Basic Questions:
Why do you want to formalize a guild?
The Knights of Salem are a pre-existing roleplay organisation with four active members. As an organisation, we represent a unique history, culture, and religion. Our roleplay and events are centred around this handcrafted background and by being officially recognised, it adds a layer of legitimacy to our roleplay, and helps keep us aligned with the central focus of growing and spreading our roleplay both by indoctrinating guild members and interacting with others in Vaelyn. Furthermore, being granted a guild building by being officially recognised will give us a nice headquarters from which to host events, roleplay amongst ourselves, and invite others to learn about the history, culture, and religion our characters represent.
What events or special roleplay do you foresee your guild participating in or hosting?
Our guild is focused around martial prowess, hunting evil, and perpetuating our group's culture and religion. As an organisation, we are diametrically opposed to forces of immense evil and destruction, including the forces of The Cataclysm, and as such have been and will continue to be involved in events associated with combatting the darkness currently infecting the broader worldscape. Furthermore, we have been and will continue to be involved in local cultural events and tournaments, and we will begin hosting events of our own once established in a guild headquarters.
In what way(s) do you feel your guild can contribute to the city of Vaelyn or to the overarching server story?
This question is largely answered above, however to elaborate further we intend on, as a martial guild, becoming approved law-enforcers and thereby interacting more greatly with the population of Vaelyn on a low-level everyday basis. As worshipers of the torchbearer Elyria, we carry her light against the darkness that destroys the world, and as such we have a vested interest in participating in the overarching story chronicle to help defend against The Cataclysm and all associated dangers.
Is your guild in conflict with any particular individual or group?

Guild History Summary (300 word min.): 'The Fall of Irenthar' (see Organisation Post)
The Age of Cataclysm was heralded first in Irenthar by outsiders. Visiting traders shared whispers and were met with immense scepticism. It wasn’t until the Innocent Erasi through a vision from Elyria confirmed the churning tides of reality that widespread panic captured the hearts of the nation-state. It was subtle at first, coming as distant rumbling and frequent storms, but took full effect when the oceans, once a deep azure blue, darkened to a viscous pitch black. Then, it came as disease and corrupted crops. Starvation ensued as people dropped dead in the streets. The King declared a plan of escape and ordered his generals to drive their citizens towards the shores, boarding what ships remained with no preference given–his values were set on saving the most people, noble or common.
Unfortunately, the king’s ambition was futile. As hellfire rained down from the skies, the ground shook and was torn asunder, consuming entire towns into an abyssal maw. Seaside structures were pulled into the depths of the black sea by tentacles of waves as rabid animals assaulted fleeing townsfolk. It was alone by the will of Elyria that anyone from Irenthar lived. Survivors from across the isle reported that the sky split and betwixt the black clouds a ray of light with the intensity of the sun cut through like a divine calling. It chartered a path that the gathered few still breathing abided, running for their lives to the destination, the shore, and by divine intervention a grand man-o-war bearing Irenthar’s flags awaited them. The Princess Salem Ardent and her son joined the escaping party. The King is assumed to have perished in the black sea when Irenthar finally sunk forever into the depths.
Salem Ardent, inheritor and thus now dubbed 'Knight-Commandant' as a Queen-in-Exile, together with what few Irenthians remained, including long-time confidant Dionysius and other supporting knights, fought bravely against the high seas and terrible storms to escape the heart of The Cataclysm. The group first found themselves in Manaan where they lived for a few short years before the destruction reached their shores, too, and by the grace and light of Elyria escaped a second time to the great oceans. After another arduous journey, Salem and company arrived in Vaelyn where they now reside, supporting the Exaltun in his efforts to secure the future of the mortal world.
