MC: Sofie2903Hey everyone!
We've got some major news about the future of the server. There are some big changes ahead and you can expect a few more posts in the next couple of weeks, but we want to make sure we keep you all in the loop. This post is going to cover the upcoming map change, the new setting, the transition process, and the whitelist. Plus, there are important deadlines for you to pay attention to—so make sure to read through carefully!
The New Map
After a lot of thought, we’ve made the tough decision to transition to a new map. We know that change can be a bit unsettling, but we truly believe this is going to make RP easier to find and more cohesive for everyone. The new map is designed specifically with a RP-first approach, pulling players closer together into a central hub instead of spreading out over vast, quiet spaces.
With this map, our goal is to encourage more spontaneous RP moments—the kind that happen when people are in the same place, bumping into each other, discovering new stories, or joining in on group activities. Whether you’re into the daily grind of slice-of-life scenarios, the thrill of combat-heavy interactions, the study of magic, or getting involved in political intrigue, there will be space for everyone to thrive. Adventurers, noble guilds, mercenaries, scholars, gang leaders—no matter your style of RP, there will be room for your story to unfold.
One of the biggest changes is that the entire RP experience will be centered around a singular city rather than across an entire sprawling map. This city, Vaelyn, will become the heart of all RP, fostering tighter connections between players and creating a more lively, dynamic world where things are always happening. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be teasing out more images and previews of the new map so you can start to envision the space you’ll be playing in. Trust us, it’s going to be exciting! But that’s not all! Just beyond the city walls lies an adventure island, filled with some community-favorite activities to keep the world alive and vibrant. This island will feature opportunities for Archaeology, Bug Catching, Mining, Lumberjacking, and PvE elements for those looking to take a break from the city life or engage in some resource gathering and discovery. This will give players a reason to explore beyond the city, while keeping RP centralized in Vaelyn.
The New Setting
Here’s where things get interesting: the lore is undergoing a bit of a facelift! We’re going to be retconning some major pre-server historical events—the Cataclysm, the Eight Year Peril, and the Great Eastern Migration—but don’t panic just yet! This doesn’t affect anything that’s happened on the server since its creation. Your characters, their stories, and their relationships remain untouched. It’s just the backstory leading up to this world that’s changing, and this only covers events that took place over 150 years ago.
We’ll be setting things at the start of the Cataclysm, an event that caused massive upheaval across the land. The only surviving civilization is the City of Vaelyn, a city built on the ruins of an ancient place, rich in mysterious power that its rulers, the Exaltun and the Voicari, use to keep the creeping darkness of the Cataclysm at bay. The city will be the main hub of all RP, and while the rest of the world has fallen, life in Vaelyn is still relatively intact. People don’t fully understand what’s happening beyond the city walls just yet. As the population grows, we’ll be opening up more of the outside world through events, allowing for settlements to spring up (and potentially fall back to the Cataclysm if inactive). The focus will be on the guilds, nobility, and other groups within the city, providing plenty of opportunities for all kinds of character-driven RP.
The new setting brings us to the Age of Exaltation, a pivotal era at the very beginning of the Cataclysm. While the ancient world is crumbling, Vaelyn rises as a symbol of survival amidst the chaos. The city’s power is drawn from the mysterious, ancient ruins it was built upon, and the Exaltun—a figure of immense authority—harnesses this power to protect its people. However, the common folk remain largely unaware of the greater dangers lurking beyond the city walls. The Voicari, the city's religious and spiritual guides, act as intermediaries between the people and the unknown.
This brings endless possibilities for your RP. Whether you prefer to play a simple merchant navigating the intrigue and daily life of a city, a noble embroiled in court politics, or a warrior sworn to defend against the encroaching darkness, you will have all the tools you need to shape your story. Magic, combat, intrigue, and daily life will all have their place in this centralized setting. The guilds and noble houses within the city will provide fertile ground for stories of power, betrayal, and loyalty, and they will serve as your character's gateway to the world beyond, which will gradually be opened through events and quests. The Cataclysm itself will act as a dynamic backdrop. As we expand beyond Vaelyn through eventlines, the map will grow and evolve, giving players access to settlements and lands reclaimed (or lost again) to the chaos. This provides an opportunity for growth and expansion while maintaining the balance of the world—settlements that become inactive might fall once again to the Cataclysm.
I understand that for some of you, this kind of shift can feel unsettling. But what I can promise is that we’re moving toward a setting that is going to feel alive with opportunity. This is a chance to breathe new life into our shared world while keeping all the progress and connections you’ve built. Whether you’re a combat-hardened warrior, a scheming noble, a gang leader navigating the shadows, or a quiet citizen just trying to survive—your place in this world is secure, and we’re making sure the setting will foster all of these types of RP.
Map Transition
As we prepare to move to the new map, we want to make sure the transition is as smooth and stress-free as possible for everyone. It’s a big change, but we’re doing everything we can to ensure you don’t lose the items, resources, and progress you’ve worked so hard to gather. Here’s everything you need to know about how the transition will work, what you can bring with you, and what the timeline looks like.
We understand that many of you have spent a lot of time gathering items, resources, and crafting unique roleplay artifacts that are deeply tied to your characters and stories. To help with the transition, we’re allowing players to bring a limited amount of their items and resources over to the new map. This keeps things fair, especially since resources have been easier to gather during different times of the Alpha phase, while also ensuring you’re not starting completely from scratch.
Here are the details of what you can transfer:
To make sure your items are safely stored and ready for the transition, we’ve set up storage units accessed through a portal in Port Manaan where you can place everything you want to bring to the new map. Here’s how it works:
Gold: You can bring up to 100 gold with you. You’ll have time to spend any excess gold on items you want to transfer (within the item limitations listed below). This ensures that no one has an unfair advantage going into the new world, and everyone starts on relatively even footing. Inventory Spaces: Each player can transfer 9 inventory spaces worth of RP items or resources. Stacked RP items, like Rune Fragments, can be brought in quantities of three, and each stack takes up one space. So, for example, if you have three Rune Fragments, that would count as one inventory space, leaving you eight more spaces to fill with other items. Stacked resources may come as a 16-stack. You may not use Bundles to supersede this inventory space limit. You may not use multiple stacks of 3 or 16 of the same item to transfer more across. For example, one stack of 16 iron is all the iron you may transfer. Approved CITs (Custom Items): All Approved CITs (custom items) will be transferred to the new map. However, these will be subject to re-approval and balancing by the Story Team to make sure they fit into the revised setting and mechanics. This ensures that older items are in line with the current game balance and lore while still allowing you to keep your personalized creations. Books & Maps: If you’ve created or collected any books or maps during your time on the server, you’re welcome to bring those with you. These can be transferred freely—just contact a staff member to facilitate the transfer. Whether it’s lore, personal journals, or maps you’ve created, your written works will be preserved.
Here’s the timeline to keep in mind for the map transition:
Storage Unit Access: A warp has been set up at Manaan to allow easy access to the storage area. Once there, you’ll find a storage unit specifically designated for players to store their items. Claim Your Chest: To get access to a personal chest for storing your transfer items, comment on this thread with your Minecraft username and your Discord username. Once you’ve done that, a staff member will assign you a locked chest where you can store your items. Only you (and staff) will have access to your chest, so your things will be safe until the transition. Please allocate a small period of time for staff to assign your chest after you’ve made your post. Deadline: You will have until November 6th, 2024, at 6 PM EST to store your items. Be sure to get everything into your chest before this deadline! After this, the storage units will be locked down, and no additional items will be transferred over. Post-Transition Retrieval: Once the map transition is complete, there will be a new warp set up on the new map where you can retrieve the items you stored. This will allow you to settle into the new map without worrying about your belongings being lost in the shuffle.
We know some of these limitations might feel strict, but they’re in place to ensure fairness and balance as we move to a new chapter of the server. The Alpha phase saw many fluctuations in resource availability and gathering methods, which led to uneven wealth and stockpiles. By setting these limits, we’re making sure no group or individual has a massive advantage in the new world. This way, everyone gets a fresh start with some essentials to carry forward, without losing everything.
Transition Storage Live Now: The storage chests are now live. Please head to the central tavern in Manaan and find the portal. Comment on this thread as mentioned above and then head there via the portal, find your chest (after giving staff time to arrange one for you), and start storing items you want to bring with you. Storage Deadline: You must have all items stored in your chest by November 6th, 2024, at 6 PM EST. After this date, storage units will be closed and locked. Map Transition Date: The actual map transition is planned for around November 9th, 2024. The exact time and date will be announced soon, so stay tuned for that. Item Retrieval: Once the new map is live, you’ll be able to retrieve your stored items through a designated warp point. You’ll have one month after the map transition to collect your belongings before the storage units are permanently closed off.

Whitelist Purge
Alright, let's talk about the Whitelist Purge. I know this can be a bit of a touchy subject, but I want to be really open and honest about why this is happening and why it’s important for the future of the server.
First off, we’re doing this out of a deep respect for the community and the RP experiences we all love. Over time, as the server has grown and evolved, we’ve noticed that the whitelist has collected a number of players who, for one reason or another, are no longer active. That’s totally understandable—life gets busy, interests shift, or maybe you just need a break from RP. But as we move forward into a new chapter with the new map and setting, we need to make sure that our whitelist is filled with active, engaged players who are excited to be part of the world we’re building together.
We’re not doing this to exclude anyone, and we’re certainly not closing the door on anyone who’s taken a hiatus. In fact, if you haven’t logged in for a while, we want to see you back! The whitelist purge is really just a reset button—a way to clear out inactive accounts and ensure that everyone who’s listed is here, ready to jump into the new RP opportunities we’re creating.
This isn’t about “cleaning house” in a cold, sterile way. It’s about making sure our community stays vibrant and connected. An active, engaged whitelist means better opportunities for RP for everyone. It ensures that when you log in, you’re surrounded by fellow players who are invested and ready to collaborate on incredible stories, no matter what kind of RP you enjoy. Whether it’s deep character development, political intrigue, magical mysteries, or gritty conflicts, we want to foster a space where those interactions are easily found.
We know it might seem harsh to call it a "purge," but this is really about ensuring that everyone on the server is on the same page as we step into the new map and setting. We’ll be making significant updates to the server rules, character guidelines, and lore over this transition period, and we want to make sure everyone who’s whitelisted is familiar with these changes and actively agrees to them. That way, we’re all working from the same foundation as we continue to build and expand this world together. We understand that reapplying if you miss the deadline might feel frustrating, and believe me, it’s not something we take lightly. But this step is essential for quality control and making sure everyone has read through the new rules and lore updates. The application process will ensure that when players return, they’re up to speed with what’s changed. This way, you’re jumping back into RP fully informed and ready to engage.
More than anything, this process is about you. We want to make sure every person on this server feels like they’re part of a thriving, active community. That’s what makes this world come alive—the stories we create together, the friendships we form, and the adventures we share. A reset like this helps ensure that when you log in, you’re surrounded by people who are just as invested in the experience as you are. If you’re reading this and feeling unsure about whether you want to stay or whether you’ll have the time, let me say this: We want you here. Your presence matters. Whether you’re a longtime or new player or someone who pops in occasionally for some RP, you’re part of this community. But we do need to hear from you if you want to remain whitelisted—so take this as a gentle nudge to stay involved.
Because of this, we’re giving everyone until November 6th, 2024, at 6 PM EST to log into the server and reply to this forum thread. As long as you’ve done both, you’ll remain on the whitelist. It’s that simple. If you’re still interested in being a part of the server but just need a little time, no worries—drop a quick reply, log in, and you’re all set. After that, we’ll review the list and make sure it’s full of people who are still engaged.
We’re super excited for this new chapter of the server, and we can’t wait to see the amazing stories you all will create in the new setting. If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments or reach out to a member of Administration.
Cheers,
SerMordryd
